On the road again...

Once again, we will be on our way within days. This will be the second half of our Around-North-America voyage which we began when we left the Island last October. We took the northern route at the time to visit and mooch off of family and friends along the way, sold our old pick up truck that we drove here in, bought a new one and will now cross the country taking the southern route to mooch off a new crop of family and friends along the way.  A mere 4500 miles in all.

Christmas was very quiet in our household as none of our kids were visiting and Mandy and Markus were here earlier in the month.

All of our travels must be planned within a 21 day window to allow for Janice to get a chemo treatment the day before we leave and the day after we arrive. Then, we will hop over the pond to France and let the games begin anew.

Our time here was much shorter than usual because of the two trips as well as arriving in France a month early in February to try to push our big project there forward before our return to the Island in June. Being gone 8 months means that there is always a boatload of maintenance to be done around the house after being absent and insuring that all is tickety-boo before we leave and the next 400 ++ or so guests arrive during our absence.

We are big on checklists both to arrive and leave at each home but also as far as  the fix it stuff goes. During our shorter than usual stay this time, we generated 68 items on the to do list, some as short as 5 minutes, one took 5 days. Sixty one of them were completed until I reached the I-don't-care stage. There is always next time. Besides there are over a hundred of them awaiting where we are going... It's like playing whack-a -mole.

Maybe I will have more to say next month as I am all out of Blah-Blah-Blah.
